US Postmaster DeJoy Denies Planning To Slow Mail-In-Ballots

United States Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has given another assurance that the postal service will timely deliver ballots sent through it.

He gave a similar assurance before a House of Representatives Committee.

On Friday, DeJoy told a Senate oversight committee that he has not cut Postal Service overtime or made any changes to reduce mail delivery service ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

“The insinuation is, quite frankly, outrageous,” DeJoy, a Trump appointee and a prominent GOP donor, told the panel, which met virtually.

NBA Saga: Jigawa Branch Calls For el-Rufai’s Reinstatement

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Jigawa State has called for the reinstatement of Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai as one of the speakers at the association’s annual general conference.

The Jigawa branch also threatened to boycott the conference the decision is not reversed.

The association removed the governor as one of its speakers following an outcry by some lawyers who said the governor stands against what the profession represents.

The group’s virtual conference holds from August 24 to August 26.

EFCC Releases List Of Nine Internet Fraudsters In Minna

The Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters in Minna, Niger State.

They were arrested following intelligence volunteered to the Commission by concerned residents of the area.

According to EFCC, the suspects were picked up by the operatives of the Commission at their hideouts in Room 202, Seftec Hotels, behind NNPC’s mega petrol filling station, Minna, Niger State, for their alleged involvement in a love scam and other internet related crimes.

Over 2,000 Stranded Nigerians In US Evacuated

2,322 Nigerian citizens stranded in the United States have been evacuated, according to the federal government of Nigeria.

This was revealed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ferdinand Nwoye. A statement released to this effect on Friday reveals that the last evacuation flight for stranded Nigerians departed Newark New Jersey on Thursday.

It is contained in the statement that the flight departed on Thursday, 20th August 2020 around 21:51 hours and estimated to arrive in Abuja by 12:41 hours and Lagos by 14:31 hours on Friday, 21st August.

A Jet in the fleet of Jedidiah Air has crashed into a fence at the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), local wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
