Journalist Assaulted By FFK To Be Honoured With Award

The Sha’aya’u S-Pawa Foundation, a political group in Zamfara state, said arrangements are in top gear to give an award of ‘Resilient Journalist’ to Mr. Eyo Charles.

Charles was the journalist verbally assaulted by a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani -Kayode in Calabar, Cross River at a media conference.

He had accused the journalist who sought to know in a question who was bankrolling his program.

He has however since tendered a public apology for the verbal attack.

Mr Innocent Ike, has been named the acting Managing Director/CEO of Polaris Bank, effective from 1 September.

Mr Babatunde Osibodu, the Company Secretary, said his appointment was approved by the board of Polaris Bank Limited and Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), the shareholder of the bank.

Ike will hold forte as the incumbent CEO, Mr Tokunbo Abiru, is proceeding on retirement with effect from Aug. 31.

A Nigerian-American Mattias Ometu has been forcefully arrested by police in San Antonio, Texas while jogging. And they almost choked him to death.

His offence was that he was “jogging while black”, and he happened, in their warped imagination, to fit the image of another blackman said to be involved in a nearby domestic violence incident.

COVID-19: Red Cross Trains 20 Volunteers In Niger

The International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and the National Headquarters of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has commenced training of 20 selected volunteers from Niger on Coronavirus (COVID-19) response.

Mr Zakari Bolaji, Health Coordinator, national headquarters, NRCS, disclosed this while inaugurating the two -day training in Minna.

“This training will expose our volunteers to COVID -19 Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and Cash Voucher Assistance (CVA),” he said.
