Polaris Bank CEO, Tokunbo Abiru Retires

Tokunbo Abiru has retired as the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank Limited, Nigeria.

Abiru announced his retirement that will take effect from August 31, in a farewell message to the staff of the bank.

The former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance explained that having served in the banking industry for nearly three decades, he had resolved to retire to enable him contribute his quota in other areas of the society.

Christian Genocide: Muslim, Christian Youths Attack UK Lawmakers

The Youth Christian and Muslim Forum of Nigeria (YCMFN) has attacked members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group in the United Kingdom (APPG) over their allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria.

YCMFN described the claim by the parliamentary group as false and misleading.

The forum made up of Christian and Muslim youths, advised the UK parliamentarians to focus on sanctity of all human lives irrespective of religion or ethnic biases.

YCMFN stated this in a statement signed by its National President, Pastor Phillip Attah.

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has reiterated his decision that no known cultist will take over from him as the governor of the State in 2023.

The governor, who stated this on Sunday in an open interaction with the people, denied plotting a third term in office through a surrogate.

Amnesty International (AI) on Sunday said Nigerian authorities have left rural communities at the mercy of rampaging bandits.

AI said gunmen killed at least 1,126 people, and kidnapped at least 380 in the northern part of the country between January and July.
