FIFA Intervenes In Ivorian Election Squabble

FIFA has ordered the cancellation of a general assembly of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) which had been called to vote on replacing the commission handling a presidential election, AFP learned on Sunday.

The vote has turned into a soap opera marred by incessant infighting, attracting international attention because FIF had appeared to be trying to freeze out Didier Drogba as a potential candidate.

A FIF emergency committee ruled the electoral commission was “suspended for serious shortcomings” and scheduled an extraordinary general meeting on August 29 to install another commission.

North Korean maximum leader, Kim Jong Un is reportedly in coma and is preparing to hand over power to his sister, British tabloid The Sun reported, quoting a former South Korean diplomat.

The diplomat, an ex-aide to former South Korean president Kim Dae-jung said the isolated state is hiding the truth about their leader’s health.

Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe has described Ghana’s action against nationals of other countries, particularly targeting Nigerians, as an endorsement of xenophobic attacks.

In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Uchenna Awom, he described it as criminal and very disturbing the closure of shops of Nigerians in Ghana by its authorities.

Sunday Shodipe, the man suspected to be behind series of killings and rape of women in Akinyele area of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, has told the police how he escaped from their custody after he was first arrested.

Shodipe was rearrested on Sunday after he escaped from the Mokola Police Station where he was detained after his arrest seven days ago.

The suspect told the Police that he escaped after a new Divisional Police Officer, deployed to the station allowed an officer he identified as Funsho to allow him to take his bath.
