UN Peacekeepers Visit Mali’s President Keita In Detention

Members of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) have managed to visit President Ibrahim Keita and other senior government officials who have been detained by the leaders of military mutiny earlier this week, official said.

The UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) disclosed this on Friday in Moscow.

Mali  was rocked on Tuesday by the coup carried out by a group of Malian soldiers.

The soldiers led by some colonels, took control of the Kati military base near the capital of Bamako and seized President Keita and some other high-ranking officials.

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has admitted that the election that brought in Olumide Akpata as President-elect of the association was flawed.

But the BoT, led by Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), however, said it would not cancel the election.

SERAP Reacts As NBA Withdraws Invitation To Gov El-Rufai

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) on Thursday backed the decision of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to withdraw its invitation to the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai.

Recall that the NBA had earlier withdrawn its invitation to El-Rufai via a tweet on its official Twitter handle following protests from some lawyers.

It read: “The National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association at its ongoing meeting resolves that the invitation to the Kaduna State Governor, H.E. Nasir El-Rufai, by the 2020 Annual General Conference Planning committee be withdrawn and decision communicated to the Governor.”
