Alfred Nobel was born on the 21st October 1833 in Stockholm, Sweden, into a family of engineers. He was a chemist, engineer, and inventor. In the year 1894, Alfred Nobel purchased the Bofors iron and steel mill, which he made into a major armaments manufacturer. Nobel also invented ballistite. This invention was a precursor to many smokeless military explosives, especially the British smokeless powder cordite.

A Consultant Gynecologist, Dr Ayodele Ademola, on Tuesday warned young women against constant abuse of pregnancy prevention drugs, stating that they have negative effects on fertility.

Ademola gave the warning in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, NAN reports.

He said the effects of such drugs, also known as emergency contraceptives could delay conception or damage a woman’s uterus if used wrongly.

He also warned against unprescribed use of a drug called misoprostol without medical supervision.

The Rivers State Taskforce on Illegal Street Trading and Motor Parks has been dissolved with immediate effect.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, disclosed this on Tuesday in a post via its official Twitter handle.

According to Wike, the Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor in charge of the Task Force, Mr Bright Amaewhul, has also been relieved of his appointment.

COVID-19: UK Goes Into Recession First Time In 11 Years

The United Kingdom, UK, has officially fallen into recession for the first time in 11 years due to the huge impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

A report from the Office for National Statistics stated that the country’s gross domestic product, GDP, is estimated to have fallen by a record 20.4% between April and June 2020, making it the second consecutive quarterly decline after it fell by 2.2% between January to March 2020.

According to the report, the collapse in output was driven by the closure of shops, hotels, restaurants, schools, and car repair shops due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Boko Haram: DSS Invites Mailafia Over Indictment Of Governor

The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Obadiah Mailafia.

He will be at their Jos office Wednesday afternoon.

The invite followed Mailafia’s comment that a Northern governor is the “commander of Boko Haram.”

The statement was made during his interview with Abuja radio station, 95.1FM, on Monday.

Mailafia also warned that Boko Haram was plotting to start a civil war in Nigeria by 2022.
