Edo Election: INEC Displays Particulars Of Gov Obaseki, Ize Iyamu

Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has displayed the forms of the incumbent Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the forthcoming election in the State, Godwin Obaseki, and those of 13 others.

The Commission displayed the particulars at its annex office, located at the former state secretariat of the PDP on Sapele Road in Benin, Edo State on Thursday.

INEC’s Information reveals that Governor Obaseki obtained the West African School Leaving Certificate in 1973 and Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons.), 1979, as his qualifications.

Nwodo: Erring Igbo Elders Should Be Stoned – Ohanaeze Backs Kanu

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, on Friday, backed the idea of using jungle justice to discipline some erring Igbo elders, whose adult delinquencies had instituted untold hardship and insecurity challenges against the Southeast.

OYC stated this while lambasting Nnia Nwodo, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for ineffective representation of the Southeast.

The group lamented that Nwodo has failed to represent and market the Southeast to the world properly, from his time as Information Minister.

Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, has said that the three flyover bridges under construction in Port Harcourt will be completed one month ahead of the initial deadline of February 2021.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 6,618 officers.

This was confirmed in a statement on Friday by the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.

The promotions were part of the highpoints of the 8th plenary meeting of the commission, which held over a period of three weeks and ended on Wednesday.

Nigeria’s COVID-19 (Coronavirus) cases have surpassed 27,000 mark after the nation recorded 626 fresh cases of the virus on Monday.

According to figures released by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Nigeria now has 27,110 confirmed cases.

In Thursday’s figures released by the NCDC, Lagos topped with 193 new infections, with FCT ramping up 85 new cases and Oyo followed with 41 fresh infections.
