India Records Highest Daily COVID-19 Cases Of 24,850

India’s Federal health ministry Sunday morning recorded 613 new deaths and 24,850 more positive cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths to 19,268 and total cases to 673,165.

This is the highest single-day spike in terms of fresh COVID-19 cases in the country so far.

According to ministry officials, 409,083 people have been discharged from hospitals after showing improvement.

The World Health Organization, WHO, regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, has revealed countries with no COVID-19 death cases.

Africa has recorded 10,847 deaths due to complications arising from COVID-19.

According to the latest figure released by WHO, the number of COVID-19 cases in Africa has risen to 444,983 in the past 24 hours.

The United Nations (UN) Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon, on Saturday, condemned the Boko Haram attack in Damasak, which damaged a humanitarian helicopter.

Kallon in a statement decried the July 2 violent attack in which at least two innocent civilians lost their lives, including a five-year-old child.

Several others were injured, and a humanitarian helicopter was hit, sustaining serious damage.
