$800m Oil Fraud: Nigeria In a Mess, Resign Now – Frank Tells Buhari

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has condemned recent allegations of corruption in Nigeria.

Reacting to the latest alleged $800 million oil fraud, Frank told President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.

He also called on the National Assembly to thoroughly probe reports of fraud in the oil sector.

Frank lamented that such a huge amount of money gotten from the oil rich Niger Delta was allegedly stolen while the region lacks good schools, hospitals, roads and others.

Alibaba’s Jack Ma Sells $8.2bn Worth Shares

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd co-founder Jack Ma has cut his stake in the company over the past year to 4.8 per cent from 6.2 per cent, cashing out around 8.2 billion dollars at its current share price.

The firm’s annual filing showed that Jack loses 40 percent of his shares.

This divestment comes as Jack retired as the Chinese e-commerce company’s executive chairman in September and pulled back from formal business roles to focus on philanthropy.

However, Alibaba did not disclose the average selling price of his divestment.

Two Madagascar Lawmakers Die Of Coronavirus

President Andry Rajoelina of Madagascar announced that two lawmakers; one member of the senate and one deputy had died after becoming infected with the coronavirus.

He added that eleven other deputies and 14 senators also tested positive for the virus.

Earlier, the country’s capital Antananarivo was placed under a fresh lockdown following a new surge in Coronavirus infections, two months after the restrictions were eased.

“The Analamanga region (under which the capital is situated) is returning to full lockdown,” the presidency said in a statement.

Mali’s opposition on Sunday rejected concessions by President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita aimed at resolving an escalating political crisis that has sparked deadly protests, saying it would be satisfied only if he resigns.

Keita announced in a speech late on Saturday he was dissolving the Constitutional Court and would move to implement recommendations made last month by regional bloc ECOWAS, which included re-running some of March’s contested legislative elections.

A spokesman for M5-RFP, a coalition of political, religious and civil society leaders that launched protests over a month ago calling for Keita to resign, rejected his proposal.
