Lagos Shuts Banana Island Water Treatment Plant

The Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission (LSWRC) on Monday sealed the Banana Island Property Owners Resident Association (BIPORAL) Water Treatment Plant for failing to meet the required safety and quality standards.

The regulatory compliance seal order on the BIPORAL water plant supplying water to residents of Banana Island in Ikoyi was sequel to tests earlier conducted by the LSWRC which revealed that the water quality of the plant was unsafe for consumption, and needed to be subjected to improved treatment.

The Nigerian High Commission in the UK has announced the closure of Air Peace Evacuation flights from that country scheduled for August 8, as all seats on the aircraft are fully booked.

The High Commission disclosed this in a statement made available to the news agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja.

The High Commission advised prospective evacuees, who are yet to make payment not to do so, and necessary arrangements are being made for alternative flights.

A legal luminary, Aare Afe Babalola, on Monday, petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, over the arrest and death of one Mr. Kehinde Omotosho.

Babalola in a petition made in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, alleged that Omotosho was arrested and detained by some officers of the anti-cultism unit of the Oyo State Criminal Investigation Department last week.
