Belarus President Dismissed COVID-19, Now Says He’s Had It

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has said he contracted coronavirus but recovered without suffering any symptoms, state-run news agency Belta reported Tuesday.
Lukashenko has repeatedly dismissed the threat posed by Covid-19, touted home remedies and refused to shut down his country, making Belarus an outlier in Europe.

Three Returned Migrants Shot Dead On Libya Coast: UN Agency

Three Sudanese migrants were killed in a shooting in Libya after the country’s coast guard intercepted them at sea and returned them to shore, the UN refugee agency said Tuesday.

The International Organization for Migration said separately that “local authorities started shooting when the migrants attempted to escape from the disembarkation point”.

The UNHCR said it “deplores the tragic loss of three lives and calls for an urgent investigation” into the shootings at Al-Khums, a port city about 100 kilometres (60 miles) east of Tripoli late Monday.

“The shooting occurred after more than 70 people were disembarked from a vessel,”

The Nigerian Stock Exchange returned to negative territory on Tuesday with the market capitalisation shedding ₦70 billion due to losses by some blue chips.

The market capitalisation was down 0.54 per cent to close at ₦12.858 trillion compared with ₦12. 928 trillion on Monday.

Also, the All-Share Index (ASI) dipped 133.45 points or 0.54 per cent to close at 24,650.16 against 24,783.61 recorded on Monday.
