US Civil Rights Icon John Lewis Lying In State At Capitol

The body of Congressman John Lewis was lying in state at the US Capitol on Monday as Americans paid their final tributes to the civil rights icon.

Former vice president Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, and Vice President Mike Pence were among those expected to pay their respects.

Lewis, a 17-term Democratic member of the US House of Representatives from the southern state of Georgia, died of pancreatic cancer on July 17 at the age of 80.

Boko Haram Attacks Magumeri, Borno State

Boko Haram terrorists are currently attacking Magumeri town in Borno State, multiple security sources say.

Magumeri is about 50km from Maiduguri, the state capital.

The insurgents came into the village in trucks and on motorcycles around 2:15pm, shooting sporadically.

“Magumeri is currently under Boko Haram attack, they came into the town few minutes ago and started shooting sporadically,” said one of the sources.

Over 4,000 couples who have applied to be wedded at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry in Lagos State will have to wait for some time to put a legal seal on their union.

The U.S. government’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) has paid Moderna Inc an additional $472 million to support the development of its novel coronavirus vaccine.
