Putin And Trump Discuss Arms Control Issues In Phone Call

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed arms control and cooperation in fighting the coronavirus during a phone call between the two leaders Thursday, the Kremlin and White House said.

The presidents “thoroughly considered” various arms control issues “given the special responsibility of Russia and the U.S. for maintaining international peace and security,” the Kremlin said.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Justice Department’s internal watchdog on Thursday launched probes into the use of force by federal agents in Portland, Oregon and Washington during recent protests against police violence.

Nigeria’s flying officer, Tolulope Arotile, has been laid to rest.

Arotile who was Nigerian Air Force fighter pilot was buried at the military cemetery in Abuja, amid tears.

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar on Thursday, congratulated Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) on his victory at the just-concluded Ondo PDP primary.

Jegede, who was the party’s flag-bearer for the 2016 gubernatorial election in the state, beat other aspirants on Wednesday.

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has made a u-turn, saying that he never said lawmakers got 60 percent of the contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who announced the receipt of Akpabio’s response, said the minister claimed to have referred to old contracts awarded by the NDDC which had not been paid for and some of which were part of the constituency projects of the lawmakers.

A Premier League club came close to losing £1 million during a transfer deal due to cyber hackers.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) said it was only the intervention of the unnamed club’s bank that stopped the theft.

It was one of several incidents highlighted as evidence that sport needed to improve its cybersecurity.

Tenants, Lessees To Pay 6% Stamp Duty: Order From FIRS

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has asked landlords and property agents to charge six per cent Stamp Duty on all tenancy and lease agreements they enter into with all leases and remit same promptly to the Service.

Mr Abdullahi Ahmad, Director, Communications and Liaison Department of the service, made this known in Abuja on Wednesday.

Ahmad said doing so was necessary so that they would not run foul of the Stamp Duty Act.
