Ex-Mongolian PM Bags Jail-Term For Abuse Of Power

A Court in Mongolia’s capital Ulan Bator, has sentenced former Prime Minister Jargaltulga Erdenebat to six years imprisonment for abuse of power.

The court found him guilty of illegally owning protected areas with special licenses.

It also said that Erdenebat gave privileges to a mining company by abusing power in his capacity as prime minister.

From 2016 to 2017, the 45-year-old served as prime minister of the resource-rich country.

He won a seat in the recent parliamentary elections while he was in custody.

German Army To Use Dogs To Sniff Out COVID-19

German army on Monday said its dogs were receiving training to sniff out COVID-19 infections, as the country’s official caseload rose to 196,554.

The military said it is working together with the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover with the hopes of training 10 dogs, Alsations, spaniels and retrievers to smell the virus.

Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Gabduje, said Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, will be humiliated in the coming governorship election slated for September 19.

Ganduje, who is the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council for Edo State Governorship Election, also sent a message to Governor Wike, who holds the same position for PDP.

Ganduje said Governor Wike of Rivers State will be isolated after the election as he vowed to secure victory for APC.

$15.3m Stolen By Woodberry May Not Be Recovered- FBI

The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has said that $15.3million, which is part of the money Olalekan Jacob Ponle aka Woodberry stole, was stashed away in a Bitcoin (BTC) wallet.

Woodberry was arrested alongside Ramon Olorunwa Abbas aka Hushpuppi and 10 others in Dubai, UAE over cyber-fraud involving 1.9 million victims to the tune of ₦168 billion.

They have all been extradited to the US, where they will face charges of conspiracy to commit fraud.

In an affidavit, the FBI noted that Woodberry received the said amount between January and September 2019.

The Department of State Service (DSS) has reportedly arrested Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of owning properties and transfer of funds through a third party abroad.

In a seven paragraph statement disclosed by DSS, the anti-graft agency chairman was said to have been found guilty of prejudicial to state security – withholding of EFCC files, sabotage, unauthorised removal of EFCC files and acts unbecoming of a police officer.
