Legal Battle To Secure Orji Kalu’s Release Starts Today

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos  south west Nigeria will today commence the hearing of application filed by team of lawyers on behalf of former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu to secure his release.

This follows the Supreme Court judgment of May 8, 2020 which declared that the Judge who sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment had no jurisdiction to do so.
Orji is serving a 12-year jail term at the Correctional Service Centre in Kuje, Abuja for looting N7.65billion belonging to the Abia State Government.

Facebook said Monday Singapore’s use of an online misinformation law is “severe” and risks stifling free speech, after the company was again forced to block a page in the city-state.

First Human Trial Of Antibody Treatment For COVID-19 Begins

Eli Lilly and Company said Monday it has started the first human trial of an antibody therapy designed to treat Covid-19.

The first phase of the trial will test whether the therapy is safe and well-tolerated; those results are expected in late June. The first Covid-19 patients being treated with the therapy are hospitalized at New York University’s Grossman School of Medicine in New York, Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles and Emory University in Atlanta, the company told CNN.
If the trial ultimately shows the treatment is effective against Covid-19, it could be available by autumn, according to the Indianapolis-based company.
