Belgium Reopens Case With Possible Link To McCann Suspect

Belgium reopened an investigation on Thursday into the 1996 murder of a German teenager because of a possible link with the man suspected of murdering British girl Madeleine McCann.

Carola Titze, 16, was found dead and mutilated in July 1996 in the resort town of De Haan on the Belgian coast.

The public prosecutor’s office in Bruges “is indeed reopening the file relating to this murder”, a spokesman told AFP, without giving further details.

At the time, Titze was on holiday with her parents and the investigation turned to a German suspect in his early 20s.

Some EU countries have announced new steps to reopen their borders with the improvement of the COVID-19 situation inside their countries.

German Interior Minister, Horst Seehofer, announced on Wednesday that Germany would on Monday lift border controls, which have been implemented for three months since the coronavirus outbreak.

The Coachella music festival in the Southern California desert and Stagecoach, have both been canceled this year, the public health commissioner announced.

The Coachella was earlier postponed for six months until October because of concerns over the coronavirus.

The cancellation order was given on June 10 by the Public health officer of Riverside County, California.

However, the events’ promoter, Goldenvoice, has not yet made a public announcement.

One of the persons who witnessed the attack on Faduma Kolomdi village in Gubio local government area of Borno state on Tuesday has narrated how the insurgents deceived villagers before they struck.

Africa Daily News had reported how over 70 people were killed in the attack.
