Obaseki In Meeting With Secondus, Wike, Tambuwal, Others

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State is currently meeting with Prince Uche Secondus, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.

According to a credible source who is a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), others in attendance are Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state , Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto as well as other governors of the party.

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has condemned the menace of herdsmen in the southeast, especially with the recent killing of a 65-year-old farmer, Uzoemena Iriaka, in his farm in Umuekpu, Agwa, Oguta Council Area of Imo State.

The farmer was allegedly killed by suspected herdsmen. Ohanaeze Ndigbo, therefore, called on Igbo to defend themselves as the killing was becoming rampant.

Lightening Kills Three Ogun FRSC Officials

Lethal lightening that trailed the Wednesday early morning drizzling has struck the Itele – Ijebu Command Post of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) along Ijebu – Ode – Ore expressway, killing three officials and throwing others to the ground.

The incident occurred around 10am at the Corps Command Post located at the Old toll gate corridor of the expressway, throwing the Ogun State sector Command of the FRSC into a hushed mourning.

The Nation learnt the lightening struck just as the FRSC officials were about observing their routine morning parade within the precinct of the office.

The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) on Wednesday shared 547.309 billion to the three tiers of government for the month of May.

It was the lowest amount shared this year, reflecting the downside effect of COVID-19 pandemic.

In January the three tiers shared 716billion.

It was 647billion in February, 780 billion in March and N606billion in April.

Out of the N547.3 billion available for May, the Federal Government received N219.799 billon, States N152.436 billion and Local Government Councils N114.095 billion.

South Africa Set To Prosecute Matodzi, 7 Others For Biggest Bank Robbery

South African authorities would dock today eight people suspected of illegally siphoning 2.3 billion rand ($133.87 million) from small lender VBS Mutual Bank.

The bank collapsed in 2018 because of the corruption scandal.

According to an online medium, amabhungane.org, the eight suspects were arrested in a coordinated multi-province search and seizure operation by the Hawks and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)
