Defense Chief Esper Counters Trump On Using Armed Forces

Secretary of Defense Mark Esper is on shaky ground with the White House after saying Wednesday that he does not support using active duty troops to quell the large-scale protests across the United States triggered by the death of George Floyd and those forces should only be used in a law enforcement role as a last resort.

Esper noted that “we are not in one of those situations now,” distancing himself from President Donald Trump’s recent threat to deploy the military to enforce order.

A GoFundMe fundraiser set up by the brother of the slain Minneapolis African-American, George Floyd, has raised more than seven times its $1.5 million goal.

Snapchat Curbs Trump Posts For Inciting ‘Racial Violence’

Snapchat on Wednesday stopped promoting posts by US President Donald Trump, saying they incite “racial violence.”

“We are not currently promoting the president’s content on Snapchat’s Discover platform,” Snapchat said in response to an AFP inquiry, referencing the youth-focused social network’s section for recommended content.

“We will not amplify voices who incite racial violence and injustice by giving them free promotion on Discover.”
