Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google communication Officer, West Africa, in a statement, said the top 20 trending questions on Google Search Nigeria over the last 30 days were dominated by food and current affairs questions.

Australia is losing US$2.5 billion every week its virus shutdown continues, according to figures announced Tuesday.

A million workers have also lost their jobs.

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said the restrictions on movement and gatherings were dealing a heavy blow to the economy.

“For every extra week that the current restrictions remain in place, the Treasury estimates that close to $4 billion will be reduced in economic activity, from a combination of a reduced workforce participation, reduced productivity, and reduced consumption,” he said in a speech in Canberra.

Plane Carrying Coronavirus Medical Supplies Crashes

Six people, including two pilots, were killed when a plane carrying medical supplies crashed in south-western Somalia on Monday.

“The cause of the accident is not yet known,” government spokesman Ismael Mukhtar Omar told the Germany’s news agency dpa.

The plane, which was carrying medical supplies needed in the fight against the coronavirus, took off from Baidoa airport in the Bay region.

It crashed shortly after, near the town of Bardaale where it was meant to land, Omar said.

Egyptian Tennis Player Youssef Hossam Banned For Life

Egyptian player Youssef Hossam has been banned from professional tennis for life for match-fixing.

The ban came two years after his brother was also permanently excluded from the sport on corruption charges.

A statement from the Tennis Integrity Unit issued Monday said the 21-year-old Youssef Hossam, provisionally suspended since May 2019, had been banned for life.

This followed his conviction on multiple match-fixing and associated corruption charges.

The punishment was imposed by Jane Mulcahy QC, a senior English lawyer, following a three-day disciplinary hearing in London in March.

The Indigenous people in Brazil have written to the World Health Organization (WHO), asking for an emergency fund to help protect their communities from the threat of the coronavirus pandemic.

Many of Brazil’s 850,000 indigenous people live in remote Amazon areas with little access to healthcare.

They have accused the government of President Jair Bolsonaro of not including them in national plans to fight the coronavirus.

In a letter to WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, they asked for help to provide protective equipment that is unavailable to them in tribal reservations and villages.

New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi will write and direct a new “Star Wars” film, Disney announced Monday.

Waititi has shot from indie acclaim to mainstream Hollywood success in recent years, overseeing Marvel superhero smash hit “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017 before winning a screenplay Oscar for Nazi satire “Jojo Rabbit” in February.

He also directed the first season finale of “The Mandalorian,” the hit television show set in the blockbuster sci-fi franchise universe.
