Donald Trump Vetoes Congress On War Powers

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday vetoed an ‘insulting’ resolution that directs him to terminate armed hostilities against Iran, not “explicitly authorised” by Congress.

A handful of Republicans in both chambers supported the rebuke after Mr. Trump took out a top Iranian general in January.

“This was a very insulting resolution, introduced by Democrats as part of a strategy to win an election on November 3 by dividing the Republican Party.

“The few Republicans who voted for it played right into their hands,” Trump said in a statement.

Nigeria’s Coronavirus cases have surpassed 3,000, with the addition of 195 new cases on Wednesday.

According to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Nigeria now has 3,145 confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

Of the 195 new cases released, Lagos leads the pack with 82 new infections of the deadly disease, while Kano followed with 30 new cases.

Zamfara recorded another 19 new cases, while Sokoto got 18 new infections and Borno recording 10 new infections.

One of the stranded Nigerians returning from the United Arab Emirates, Mrs. Kafayat Amusan delivered a baby boy aboard an Emirates Airline plane.

Mr. Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media and Public Relations Office of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), disclosed that the incident occurred while evacuating Nigerians from UAE.
