El-Rufai Speaks On Deportation, Plight Of Almajiri Kids

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai has said that the deportation of Almajiris from various Northern States to their indigenous States was an agreement between the governors of the region.

The Governor, speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, said that COVID-19 lockdown only provided the opportunity for the Governors to locate the Almajiri.

He said most of the children deported from Kano State would have died of the virus had they remained in Kano, adding that over 30,000 have been sent back to their various States.

Oyedepo Blasted For Criticising FG Over Church Closure

Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel has come under attack for criticising the reopening of markets while churches remained closed in Nigeria.

As part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Nigerian government banned religious gatherings till further notice.

However, Oyedepo speaking on Wednesday morning during the Covenant Hour of Prayer programme of the Church, said the continuous closure of churches was suspicious.

He disclosed that the Lord told him that it was part of moves to stop the church of God from expanding.

25 Passengers On Flight From Kano To Beirut Test Positive

At least 25 passengers on a flight from Kano to Beirut on Wednesday have tested positive for COVID-19, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has confirmed.

The government of Lebanon had asked Middle East Airlines to evacuate its citizens from foreign countries last month.

On May 5, an aircraft with flight number ME570 took off from Kano to Beirut, according to a flight schedule provided by the Middle East Airlines.

25 of those aboard the flight have now tested positive for Coronavirus.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has denied appointing former Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, to lead the campaign for an Igbo president in 2023.

7 Die As Coronavirus Hits Roscosmos Russia’s Space Agency

Coronavirus has hit hard Russia’s space agency, Roscosmos, with seven officials dead and 173 cases diagnosed.

The latest blow was the death of Yevgeny Mikrin, head of human spaceflight programme.

His death was announced on 5 May as cases of the virus ballooned in the country.

The number jumped Thursday with a record 11,231 cases.

This was the highest since the country started posting a successive over 10,000 cases from Sunday.

With 177, 160 cases, Russia is now the 4th worst-hit on the European continent, ahead of France and Germany.

About 1,625 have also died.
