Gov. Ganduje Abolishes Almajiri System In Kano

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has finally abolished Almajiri system for life in the state.

Ganduje, who was briefing the media on the state of the COVID-19 in Kano on Wednesday, insisted that the system of Almajiri system has been totally abolished in the state.

The Government explained that if an Almajiri system would be allowed in Kano, there are guidelines which if followed they will allow for it to continue.

The guidelines according to the Governor include having a curriculum that tallies with a formal school system,

Kufre Carter: DSS Finally Frees Journalist Arrested By Akwa Ibom Govt

Kufre Carter, the journalist detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) despite perfecting bail, has been freed.

His lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, had accused the DSS of awaiting a directive by Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, before releasing his client.

Kufre was arrested by the DSS and the Police April 27 over a purported phone conversation with an anonymous doctor.

The state government alleged that the audio castigated the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Protests against the police continued for the second day in Minneapolis, Minnesota over the killing of George Floyd.

Once again, like on Tuesday night, police and the demonstrators clashed.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has blamed the deadly Coronavirus pandemic for the delay in delivering a 3-phase housing project his administration embarked on.

On Tuesday, Abiodun said his administration was nearing completion of a 250-unit Prince Court Estate project at Kemta Idi-Aba in Abeokuta.
