Imo Elders Council Charge Uzodinma To Probe Predecessors

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has been charged to probe his predecessors and recover every penny alleged to have been stolen by them.

The Elders Council in the state gave the charge today during a meeting with the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chiji Collins at the complex, Owerri.

Speaking, Edmund J.K Onyebuchi, the state chairman of the council assured the Assembly of their council’s unalloyed support in bringing the past governments to proper scrutiny.

President Muhammadu Buhari has come under attack over the sack of the Registrar, National Examination Council, NECO, Prof. Charles Uwakwe.

NECO registrar was sacked on Wednesday for fraudulent practices and suppression of official records.

Four other top management officials of the council were also dismissed after investigation.

Mr Abubakar Gana was immediately appointed as the acting Registrar.

Nigeria Records 200 COVID-19 Deaths

The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Nigeria now stands at 200.This was confirmed in a tweet by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC while confirming 284 new cases of the disease in the country on Wednesday, said Nigeria has so far recorded 6677 cases and 200 deaths.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Registrar, National Examination Council, NECO, Prof. Charles Uwakwe and outright dismissal of four top management officials of the council over series of allegations.

This was contained in a letter dated May 11, 2020 signed by the Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono, on behalf of the Education Minister and made available by the Head, Information and Public Relations Division, NECO, Mr. Azeez Sani,

Their removal was as a result of recommendations by a panel investigating allegations of misconduct levelled against them while they were on suspension.

Overpriced Ventilators: Bolivia Health Minister Sacked, Arrested

Bolivia’s health minister, Marcelo Navas was on Wednesday sacked and arrested over corruption charges related to the purchase of ventilators to fight coronavirus.

The government spokeswoman, Isabel Fernandez reported that Marcelo Navas was sacked in order to prevent interference into the investigation of 170 Spanish ventilators with over-inflated prices.

Navas was immediately replaced by his deputy, Eidy Roca.
