Data Shows U.S. Economy In A Shambles

Newly released multi-faceted  economic data showed the U.S. economy is in a shambles and may not rebound quickly even when the devastating lockdowns imposed to stop the coronavirus pandemic are lifted.

Data tracking industrial production and the vital retail sector released Friday showed record declines in April.

This was the first full month of lockdowns to stop the spread of COVID-19 virus that has killed nearly 86,000 people and caused around 36.5 million people to lose their jobs in the world’s largest economy.

Yobe Receives Another Batch Of Almajiris From Adamawa

The Yobe State government has announced that its officials have received another batch of 58 Almajiris repatriated from Adamawa State on Friday.

The Executive Secretary, Yobe Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, alongside State Focal Person, North East Development Commission, (NEDC) Dr. Ali Ibrahim Abbas received the returnees in Damaturu on behalf of the state government.

Dr. Goje, while giving a breakdown of the repatriated Almajiris said that so far, Yobe state has received 241 Almajiris from Gombe, Nassarawa and Adamawa states.

The Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi Junior, has lamented that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, never gave him the result showing he tested positive to COVID-19.

Junior, who is the son to DAAR Communications Plc founder, Raymond Dokpesi, expressed disappointment that he was not given any documentary evidence to show he was positive and when he tested negative to the virus.

He made the disclosure while recounting his sojourn and that of his father in an isolation centre in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
