Coronavirus Weakening, May Disappear Before Vaccine

Italian expert, Dr. Giuseppe Remuzzi said coronavirus is nearing its end and “may disappear” before the discovery of a vaccine to stop its spread.

Remuzzi is the director of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research in Milan, Italy.

In an interview with Italy’s La7 television channel, Remuzzi said the virus is weakening day by day and could lose its potency.

His view conflicts with the pervading one in the medical world that has warned that the virus is now endemic within the population, meaning it will not go away on its own.

Coronavirus: Thailand Reports No New Case Since March 9

Thailand, the first country outside China to discover a case of the new coronavirus, on Wednesday reported no new daily cases for the first time in two months.

Taweesin Wisanuyothin, a spokesman for the government’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration, said the report made the government to consider easing more restrictions on businesses.

“We all can be relieved but not complacent.

“We need to continue with the main measures, wash hands, practice social distancing and wear masks,” Taweesin said.

ECOWAS Court Resumes Sitting

The ECOWAS Court of Justice resumed operations in Abuja, following the easing of lockdown by the host Member-State.

Mr Sunny Ugoh, Head, Communications division of ECOWAS in a statement on Wednesday said however, that the bar on physical filing of applications had yet to be lifted.

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, has congratulated Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Gambari was appointed on a Wednesday at the Federal Executive Council meeting.

Gambari who is a Nigerian scholar, diplomat and from Kwara State is to replace the late Abba Kyari who died on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, from coronavirus complications.

The Management of Twitter, on Tuesday announced that it’s set to allow employees to continue to work from home indefinitely even after the end of the coronavirus crisis.
