Former Diplomat Yukio Okamoto Dies From Coronavirus

Yukio Okamoto, a former Japanese diplomat has died after contracting the coronavirus.

His consultancy confirmed on Friday that he died late last month, aged 74.

After retiring from the foreign ministry in 1991, Okamoto served as an adviser to then-prime minister Ryutaro Hashimoto on issues related to Okinawa, home to the bulk of U.S. troops in Japan.

He also advised then-prime minister Junichiro Koizumi from 2001-2004.

He was also a research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for International Studies.

Shehu Sani, former Kaduna lawmaker has condemned the deportation of almajiris to their States of origin.

The deportation of Almajiris kicked off in most northern states in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the region.

President Muhammadu Buhari has explained that the COVID-19 pandemic and the fall of oil price in the international market has made borrowing from the international capital market unattractive.
