Twitter Removes Numerous Accounts Linked To Saudi, Egypt

Twitter has removed thousands of accounts linked to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and several other countries for either taking directions from the governments or promoting pro-government content.

The social media giant said in a post on its platform on Thursday that it had taken down 2,541 accounts in the Egypt-based El Fagr network because it created “inauthentic accounts to amplify messaging critical of Iran, Qatar and Turkey”.

Google says it will publish users’ location data around the world from Friday to allow governments to gauge the effectiveness of social distancing measures, brought in to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Nigerian Coronavirus patient, identified as Okonkwonwoye Chika Patrick, has been detained in China for allegedly biting a Chinese nurse, Ms. Wang, as he attempted to escape from isolation, Daily Mail reports.

The 47-year-old man is said to have beat up the nurse, after she stopped him from leaving his quarantine ward at a hospital in Guangzhou on Wednesday, April 1.

Okonkwonwoye has been at the hospital since March 23, after he tested positive for COVID-19.

Two shops with household utensils were destroyed in a fire that gutted Maola Shopping Mall at Ebute Ero Market in the Idumota area of Lagos on Friday.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who confirmed the incident noted that the fire had been put off by emergency responders.

According to him the combined efforts of emergency agencies put off the fire within 30 minutes.
