NY Governor Wants To See Sports Teams Return

The governor of New York raised the possibility Sunday of some major-league sports teams returning to the playing field or arena — only with no fans in the stands.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said he had spoken to several sports team owners — he did not name them, but New York’s teams include the iconic Yankees baseball team, as well as football, hockey and basketball clubs — and he speculated that for some it might make economic sense to play before empty stadiums.

Cuomo made the remarks during a daily briefing on the coronavirus in his state, the hardest hit in …

Yemen Crisis Deepens As Separatists Declare Self-Govt

Yemeni separatists early Sunday declared self-rule of the country’s south as a peace deal with the government crumbled, complicating a long and separate conflict with Huthi rebels who control much of the north.

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) accused the government of failing to perform its duties and of “conspiring” against the southern cause, and said self-governance had begun at midnight.

The government condemned the move and said the separatists — who have long agitated for independence in the south — would be responsible for the “catastrophic and dangerous” outcome.

38North cautioned that the train’s presence “does not prove the whereabouts of the North Korean leader or indicate anything about his health”.

WHO Warns Against Coronavirus ‘Immunity Passports’

The United Nations’s health agency has warned there is no scientific evidence to prove that people who have recovered from the coronavirus develop immunity against potential infection in the future, as the global death toll from COVID-19 passed 200,000 on Saturday amid 2.8 million infections.

The World Health Organization (WHO) gave the warning as a number of countries consider issuing so-called “immunity passports” to people who have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The WHO said such a move could actually increase the transmission of the novel coronavirus as people who have recovered may ignore advice about

Complaints Of Racism Mar China’s Coronavirus Response

Lewis was at the hospital where he interns when he saw videos on social media of a black man being chased in the street by police.

When the 23-year-old medical student from Sierra Leone checked his phone, he had missed calls and messages from friends in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou who had also seen the video, and there was a notice in Chinese saying that Africans were “importing” the virus and needed to be quarantined.

Then, local authorities came to the hospital where Lewis (who asked that his name be changed for fear of reprisals) worked and told
