NJC Names 2 Judges For Compulsory Retirement

The National Judicial Council, NJC, has recommended the compulsory retirement of two judges with immediate effect.

A statement by the Director of Information NJC, Soji Oye, said the judges are the Acting President, Imo State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Francis Abosi and Justice Aliyu Liman of the Bauchi State High Court.

Oye said the council headed by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Tanko Muhammad, took the decision during its 91st Intensive Meeting held online on April 22 and April 23.

A group of scientists at the University of Albany School of Public Health in the United States is testing the effectiveness of Hydroxychloroquine on COVID-19 patients.

The group divides 1,600 COVID-19 patients into four groups: One, those taking Hydroxychloroquine; two, those taking just chloroquine and other related drugs; three, those taking Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, an antibiotic; and four, those taking none of the above drugs.

The group’s preliminary reports show that there is no enough evidence yet to recommend Hydroxychloquine.
