Nigerians took to Twitter on Saturday to criticize the federal government for flouting the social distancing rule, as a measure to curb Coronavirus.

The criticism was stirred by pictures that emerged from the burial of President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, who died from COVID-19.

Abba Kyari who died in Lagos on Friday was flown to Abuja on Saturday for burial despite the warning by Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control (NCDC) against conducting private burials for victims of Coronavirus.

The death toll rose by more than 2,000 for the fourth day in a row.

President Donald Trump, on Friday, announced a 19-billion-dollar aid package for farmers hurt financially by the coronavirus crisis.

The aid plan includes $16 billion in direct payments to farmers to boost their incomes, along with $3 billion in government purchases of meat, dairy products, and other foods.

“The programme will include direct payments to farmers as well as mass purchases of dairy, meat and agricultural produce to get that food to the people in need,” Trump said during his daily news conference.

The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Malam Bashir Ahmed, has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, late Abba Kyari, as one of the most misunderstood persons in the history of Nigeria.

The Presidency had in the early hours of Saturday announced the death of Abba Kyari, who had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19.

Kyari died on Friday.

In what appears to be a tribute to late Abba Kyari, on his Twitter page, @BashirAhmaad, on Saturday, the presidential aide also described the deceased as a man of honour, who sacrificed his life for Nigeria.
