‘Amotekun Remains A Child Of Necessity’ – Gov. Oyetola

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has described the South West Security Network, codenamed ‘Operation Amotekun ‘ as a child of necessity, in the face of present security challenges in the South West zone.

He explained that the urgent need to secure the South West against criminality and create conducive environment for socio-economic activities were the major factor that necessitated the creation of the security outfit, as a complement to conventional security arrangement .

Oyetola stated this on Wednesday, while playing host to members of Yoruba Unity Forum , led by Arch Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, who were on a courtesy visit

The United States Department of State has placed a $7million ( 2.5billion) bounty on the head of Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau.

The Rewards for Justice Program (RJP) announced this in a tweet.

It read: “The United States Department of State offers a reward up to $7m for information leading to the arrest of the terrorist, Abubakar Shekau, leader of Boko Haram.”

In June 2013, the US had also placed a bounty of the same amount on Shekau.

Buhari Govt To Involve FBI In Ex-Govs, Senators Probe

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has announced plans to involve the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) track relatives of former governors.

Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption, Prof. Itsey Sagay, disclosed this on Wednesday at a PACAC Roundtable.

Sagay stated that said a number of former Governors, including some who are now Senators, transferred public funds abroad to purchase properties in the names of their relatives residing there.

Coronavirus: Nigeria And Japan Sign $18.2m Deal

The Nigerian Government has signed a $18.2m grant agreement with Japan to strengthen the capacity of network laboratories of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control for accurate medical and laboratory investigations.

The Nation reports that Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, signed the agreement on behalf of Nigeria.

A Facebook user, Progress Fuby Halliday, has taken to his Facebook page to announce the passing of the oldest woman in Rivers State, Mama Kean Itubo Itari Umasala who died at the ripe age of 160.

According to Progress Fuby Halliday, Mama Kean Itubo Itari Umasala of Aminigboko Abua in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State died at the rip age of 160 years.

Family sources said Mama have been begging God to take her life since 70 years ago.
