Helicopter Carrying Police Chief, 7 Officials Crashes

A helicopter carrying the Philippine national police chief and seven others, on Thursday crashed.

The crash which occurred in San Pedro City in Laguna province, about 28 kilometres South of Manila happened shortly after take-off, injuring everyone on board, NAN reports.

The police spokesman, Benigno Durana, National police Chief, Archie Gamboa confirming the incident said the police chief was unconscious when he was pulled out of the Bell 429 twin-engine chopper while two high-ranking police officials, intelligence Chief Mariel Magaway and comptrollership Director Jose Ramos are in critical condition.

FFK Makes Revelation As Buhari Sacks Dakuku Peterside

Nigeria’s former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the removal of Dr. Dakuku Peterside, as the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.

Buhari had on Wednesday reportedly appointed the current Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Bashir Jamoh, as the new DG,

Jamoh will replace Peterside, who has been the head of the maritime agency since 10th March 2016 and whose tenure ends on 10th March 2020.

Peterside will complete his time in office March 10, 2020.

Buhari Appoints Mensem As Appeal Court Acting President

Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Justice M.B. Dongban Mensem as the Acting President of the Court of Appeal.

Buhari disclosed that Mensem’s appointment is for an initial period of three months which takes effect from March 6, 2020, when the incumbent President of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, CFR, will statutorily retire from service.

Reps To Probe Nigeria Immigration Services Over Extortion

The House of Representatives has mandated its committee on Interior to investigate extortion of Nigerians getting passport by personnel of the Nigerian Immigration Services.

The green chamber also urged the Federal Government to investigate all alleged corrupt practices at passport offices.

The resolutions followed a motion by Chinadu Ogah on Thursday. According to Ogah’s motion, immigration officers charge as much as  50,000 for passport instead of the normal rates of  25,000 and  35,000.

No fewer than 18 members of the National Youth Service Corps, 2019 Batch C serving in Ebonyi State on Thursday have been directed to repeat service year for allegedly abscondment from service.

The corps members also received various degrees of punishment for flouting the rules and regulations of the scheme.
