‘Governors Can Dethrone Anybody’ – Tolu Ogunlesi

One of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aides, Tolu Ogunlesi, has claimed that a sitting Governor in Nigeria, can remove any traditional leader.

Ogunlesi was reacting on his Twitter page, to the dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano by the state Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Monday.

“A sitting governor can dethrone anybody – they have the power.

“That is the way the system is set up. Nobody is above being dethroned. Governors formally appoint them, present them the staff of office and fund their offices,” he wrote.

A Federal High Court on Tuesday affirmed Governor Douye Diri as the authentic Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Bayelsa state.

A former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Timi Alaibe, approached the court to seek redress over the outcome of the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sanusi’s Daughter Reacts To Her Father’s Dethronement

Khadija Lamido Sanusi, one of the children of dethroned Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, has reacted to the strange condolence messages being sent to her on social media following the removal of her father from office on Monday.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano had on Monday, dethroned Emir Sanusi for gross insubordination and disobedience to constituted authority. Almost immediately, Aminu Ado Bayero was appointed at the new Emir of Kano Emirate.
