Oyo Gov., Seyi Makinde Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus.

The governor disclosed this on his twitter handle on Monday evening, saying that he just received his coronavirus test result and that it was positive.

He said he was still asymptomatic and would continue to self-isolate.

The health minister Ummy Mwalimu disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

It was reacting to Buhari’s nationwide broadcast wherein he ordered the total lockdown of Abuja, Lagos, and Ogun States due to the outbreak of Coronavirus.

Joe Diffie, a Grammy award-winning country music singer who had several chart-topping hits in the 1990s, has died of coronavirus. He was 61.

Diffie’s death was announced on his Facebook page, which said he died on Sunday “from complications of coronavirus.”

His death came just two days after he had announced that he had tested positive for the virus and was receiving medical care.

Italy on Monday extended an economically crippling lockdown until “at least” mid-April to stem coronavirus infections that have claimed a world-leading 11,591 lives.

A convicted serial killer, who murdered and preyed on women in California over a span of three decades, died over the weekend at San Quentin State Prison.
Lonnie Franklin, known as the “Grim Sleeper,” was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday night, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
An autopsy is being performed to determine the 67-year-old’s cause of death, but there were no signs of trauma, the statement said.

Saudi-UAE Coalition Carries Out Air Raids On Yemen

The Saudi-UAE coalition fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen carried out more than a dozen air strikes on the capital Sanaa, the first such attacks on the city in months. 

According to Houthi-run Al Masirah TV, the coalition launched 19 air raids on Monday. No casualties were reported so far.

The attacks on Sanaa came after Saudi Arabia intercepted two ballistic missiles the Houthis said they had launched on Saturday towards Riyadh and southern parts of the kingdom near the Yemeni border.

The Houthi attack coincided with the fifth anniversary of Saudi Arabia’s intervention in Yemen’s civil war.
