Aisha Yusufu, co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls campaign group, has blasted President Muhammadu Buhari over his nationwide broadcast on Sunday.

Following pressure from Nigerians and the legislature, the President finally, for the first time since the coronavirus disease entered Nigeria, addressed the nation.

However, Mrs Yusufu, who is an ardent critic of Buhari and his administration, was not happy with the content of the message delivered by the President.

Access Bank Shuts Branch After COVID-19 Positive Visit

Access Bank Nigeria has shut down its Ligali Ayorinde branch in Victoria Island, Lagos, after a certain ‘individual’ who visited the branch some days back tested positive for Coronavirus.

The bank made the announcement on twitter, they wrote:

Medical Doctors Resume Services In Cross River

Medical Doctors in Cross River State have resumed work in all public and private hospitals in the State after withdrawing services for over twelve days.

The Medical Doctors withdrew their services in the State following the kidnap of their colleague’s wife, Mrs Christiana Ekanem who is an Assistance Director in the University of Calabar.

She was kidnapped on the 10th of March while on her way to work, but was released on March 21st.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar took to his Twitter page to reveal that his son, Adamu, tested positive to coronavirus. He added that his son had been taken to Gwagwalada Hospital, Abuja.

However, that Adamu was taken to the hospital is not the end of the matter.

Coronavirus: UAE, Saudi Arabia Take Drastic Steps

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia have ramped up measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.

While the Saudis slammed a 21-day curfew, the UAE suspended all flights.

The UAE said on Monday that all passenger flights to the country would be suspended for two weeks. The decision will take effect within 48 hours.

According to the official WAM news agency, cargo and emergency evacuation flights are exempted.

The UAE’s Health and Emergency authorities said that commercial centres and shopping malls, along with fish, meat and vegetables markets would be closed within 48 hours for two weeks.

Coronavirus Hits 42 Countries, Kills 33 In Africa – WHO

The World Health Organisation, WHO, Regional Office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, has disclosed that there are now 1,117 confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in 42 countries across Africa.

The UN health agency stated this in its regional official twitter account @WHOAFRO on Sunday.

According to the WHO, there have been 33 COVID-19-related deaths as at Sunday.

“1,117 confirmed #COVID19 cases in #Africa in 42 countries,” WHO said.

“There have been a total of 33 reported deaths in Algeria (15), Egypt (8), Burkina Faso (3), Morocco (3), Congo – Kinshasa (1), Gabon

Catholic Priest Slumps, Dies During Mass In Port Harcourt

Rev. Father, Cyprian Kooro, the priest in charge of St. Helen Catholic Church, Ogbogoro, Port Harcourt, has reportedly slumped and died while conducting mass.

The Nation reports that the morning mass was underway on Sunday, when the priest suddenly collapsed.

Other church officials were said to have surrounded him and immediately rushed him to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).

The priest was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Atiku’s Son Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has revealed that his son tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus.

Atiku, on his verified twitter page, late Sunday night disclosed that his son had tested positive for the virus.

He said the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, had been duly informed.

An Israeli medical doctor Gai Peleg has told Israeli television that in northern Italy the orders are not to allow those over 60 access to respiratory machines.

Mozambique has confirmed its first case of the new coronavirus – a 75-year-old man who had recently returned from Britain, health minister Armindo Tiago said on Sunday.
