IOC Postpones 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games (Full Statement)

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has officially postponed the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games after talks with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe.

IOC said the games will be postponed from its original date and will be held no later than summer 2021.

Breaking: Coronavirus Cases In Nigeria Climb To 42

Cases of Coronavirus infection in Nigeria have risen to 42, according to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

Two new cases were recorded on Tuesday, adding to the already existing 40 cases to take the tally to 42.

According to the NCDC, two new cases of the disease had been confirmed in Nigeria, saying one of the cases was in Lagos and the other in Ogun State.

The centre said one of the cases was that of a returning traveler, while second case was a contact of a previously confirmed case.

Harsh Curfews In Senegal, South Africa Over Coronavirus

Senegal and South Africa issued curfews Monday as part of measures against the novel coronavirus, which has claimed more than 16,000 lives worldwide.

Following a nine-hour-long meeting, Senegalese President Macky Sall said a state of emergency was declared in a bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, adding free movement would be limited for the next three months.

Sall said demonstrations and rallies were prohibited, public spaces would be closed, and a curfew would be in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while transportation between cities has been restricted and could be completely banned if necessary.
