Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state has declared that patriotic forces in the APC will not allow the embattled national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshimole,to be humiliated out of office, just as he vowed that every arsenal will be deployed to ensure that the plan of those plotting his removal is foiled.

Sampdoria, Italian Serie A club on Friday said four more of their players have tested positive for coronavirus, one day after forward Manolo Gabbiadini was also confirmed to have caught the virus.

Senegal Reports 11 More Cases Of Coronavirus

Eleven more cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed by Senegal’s Ministry of Health and Social Action.

The ministry said on Friday that all of the 11 confirmed cases are infected by the fifth confirmed case of COVID-19 in Senegal, a 52-year-old Senegalese returning from Italy to Touba via Dakar. They have been receiving medical treatment at a health centre in Touba, eastern Senegal.

US Rebukes Chinese Envoy Over Wuhan Coronavirus Origin

The U.S. State Department summoned the Chinese ambassador to the United States on Friday to protest against comments by Beijing suggesting the U.S. military might have brought the coronavirus to Wuhan.

David Stillwell, the top U.S. diplomat for East Asia, delivered a very “stern representation” to China’s ambassador Cui Tiankai, a State Department official said, adding that Beijing’s envoy was “very defensive.”

The State Department official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said China was seeking to deflect criticism of its role in “starting a global pandemic and not telling the world.”

2021 AFCON Qualifiers Postponed Over Coronavirus

Two rounds of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers scheduled for March have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said on Friday.

Rounds three and four of the pool qualifiers were due to be played in the international window from March 25 to March 31.

But the CAF emergency committee has postponed the games until further notice, without providing alternative dates.

The office of Nigerian Vice-president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has announced the sudden death of one of Police escort riders on the VP’s convoy, Inspector Ali Gomina.

The Senior Special Adviser to Vice-president on Media, Laolu Akande, made this known in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen on Friday.
