Lagos Assembly Spends ₦2.4Bn On 80 Cars In 11 Months

About ₦2.4b has been spent within 11 months to procure 80 cars for the 40 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly.  The information available to The Guardian revealed that sometimes last year, a contract was awarded for 40 cars to be purchased for the lawmakers. And less than a year after, another contract was awarded for the purchase of cars for the Assembly members in December and January.

In the document, there was disparity between the cars for principal officers and floor members. While the principal officers got Toyota Land Cruisers, the floor members got Toyota Prado.

Kenya: Govt Deports 4 Chinese For Whipping Kenyan Waiter

Kenyan government has deported four Chinese citizens after one of them whipped a Kenyan waiter for coming late to work at Chez Wou Restaurant in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

Kenya’s Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i has ordered the deportation of four Chinese nationals taken to court over assaulting a Kenyan worker.

The four are Deng Hailan, Chang Yueping, Ou Qiang and Yu Ling.

Coronavirus Case Toll Increases In Germany

The Robert Koch Institute for disease control in Germany disclosed the increase in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases on Sunday.

According to the German institute, the number jumped from 66 to 117 in just two days. As such, the government crisis committee has widened cross-border travel guidelines and canceled major international events, and the health minister has advised people with cold symptoms to stay away from mass events.

Kiko Casilla Gets Eight-Match Ban Over Racist Language

Leeds United goalkeeper, Kiko Casilla has been banned from eight matches and fined £60,000 after being found guilty of racially abusing Charlton Athletic forward, Jonathan Leko.

Football Association independent regulatory commission found Casilla guilty, even after he denied the charge.

The incident occurred during the September 28 match between the Championship sides, where the FA concluded on Friday that Casilla’s remarks “made reference to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin” of Leko.

US President Donald Trump has said that 22 people in the country have been hit by the coronavirus and that additional cases are “likely.”
