Traffic Nightmares Resume In Cabo Delgado, Mozambique

Maputo — Once again, it is only possible to cross the Montepuez river in Quissanga district, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, by boat.

The bridge over the Montepuez collapsed on 27 December, as flood waters swept away the central pillars. This cut off the flow of traffic from the provincial capital, Pemba and the south of the province, to the northern districts of Muidumbe, Mueda, Nangade, Mocimboa da Praia and Palma.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has pleaded with indigenous interdenominational church leaders to fight ‘demons’ haunting Zimbabwe, which have seen its economy on a free fall.

Speaking at the National Day of Prayer at the Indigenous Interdenominational Council of Churches (ZIICC) at the National Sports Stadium in Harare Saturday, Mnangagwa told the churches gathered it was critical for them to pray for Zimbabwe and cast out demons.

Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, said on Monday that he knew a former governor in one of the South-West states who had a killer squad that helped him to eliminate his political opponents.

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA)  Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted $8,065,615 at the airport.

A driver working with Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, NAHCO, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport has been arrested by men of Murtala Mohammed International Airport Command over the sum of $8,065,615 loaded into a vehicle he was driving.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Tuesday, Mr. Hameed Ali, the customs comptroller-general, said the cash was intercepted while it was about to be loaded into an aircraft from the vehicle.
