Wike Shocks LGA Chairmen

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has dropped a shocker for Local government Chairmen who intend to seek re-election.

The tenure of the incumbent Chairmen of the 23 Local councils in the state will elapse in 2021.

Speaking during a solidarity visit by the leaders and people of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Governor Wike said that there will be no automatic ticket for any Local Government Chairman for second term.

He said that the emergence of any Local Government Chairman for second term will be on the strength of his performance and acceptance.

Ayade Dragged To Court Over Trial Of Publisher Jalingo

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has dragged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and the Cross River state government of governor Ben Ayade to ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja “over the prolonged, arbitrary detention, unfair prosecution, persecution, and sham trial of journalist Agba Jalingo.”

Jalingo, who is the publisher of CrossRiverWatch, was arrested on August 22 over a report alleging that Mr Ayade diverted N500 million belonging to the state.

A pro-democracy organization, Movement for a Better Lagos yesterday cautioned protesters against the restrictions placed on commercial motorcycles and tricycles from certain major highways and bridges in Lagos.

A headless body was found on Saturday along the popular Nnebisi Road in Asaba, Delta State capital.

The discovery of the unidentified headless corpse caused consternation among residents of the area.
