PDP Reacts To Lai’s Comment On $500m Loan For NTA

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, to forget the move to secure $500 million dollars (₦182 billion) loan, purportedly to upgrade the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP National Publicity Secretary, said this in a statement Monday night.

PDP advised the National Assembly to turn down the request by President Muhammadu Buhari government to plunge Nigeria into more debt through his request for additional $29.9 billion dollars loan.

Boko Haram: Nigerian Army Rescues 3 Students In Borno

The Nigerian Army on Monday rescued three students of Federal Government Girls College, Maiduguri from the insurgents in Borno State.

Maj.-Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi, the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD), disclosed this while presenting the rescued victims to their families in Maiduguri.

The commander said that the students, including two females, were abducted alongside one male student on Maiduguri-Gubio Road on Sunday.

The rescued students were identified as Wommi Laja, Ammo Laja and Kingi Laja,

President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with families of victims of the latest attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He assured that his administration will continually frustrate the devilish operations of Boko Haram, and bring it to an end.

Buhari condemned the “murderous and cowardly attack on innocent passengers by the Boko Haram terrorists near Maiduguri’’.

In a statement by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, Buhari added that his administration is ever determined to frustrate their goal to hold Nigeria to ransom’’.

Stop Claiming B’Haram Has Been Technically Defeated – FFK

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, has charged the Federal Government to stop claiming that Boko Haram has been “technically defeated.”

Fani-Kayode gave the charge while condemning the latest Boko Haram attack that killed about 30 people in Maiduguri, Borno State.

In a tweet, the former minister wondered when the Federal Government would live up to its responsibility of defending Nigerians.

Fani-Kayode tweeted: “30 people killed by Boko Haram & many abducted in Maiduguri, Borno state today. Is the FG still claiming that Boko Haram has been “technically defeated?”

South East To Launch Own Regional Security Outfit

The South-East Governors’ Forum has resolved to launch a regional security outfit to protect the geopolitical region of Nigeria.

After meeting in Enugu, the leaders have also written the Federal Government in this regard and were equally satisfied with the arrangement that would lead to the enactment of the law to back up the programme in all Houses of Assembly across the region.

Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the massacre of 30 people by Boko Haram terrorists at the village of Auno on a key highway, linking the capital, Maiduguri, Borno State.

Boko Haram Attack: 2 Students Of UNIMAID Burned Alive

Two students of the University of Maiduguri were among the dozens of people killed on Auno-Jakana road by Boko Haram and the inferno ignited by a military petrol tanker stranded among other motorists on Sunday night.

One of the students was identified as Fatima, while the other was identified as Mama Gana Kachallah, a student of Mass Communication. Both were burned alive by the inferno.

Mama Gana’s uncle, Mohammed Bashir Shuwa, an aide to former Governor Kashim Shettima, issued an obituary notice about her death on Monday.
