Factional State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Lawrence Okah, whose house was allegedly bombed by unknown persons on Tuesday morning, has accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of plotting to kill him over his second term ambition.

The Governor, however, said the resort to violence was the stock in trade of Ize-Iyamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and their cohorts in the Edo Peoples Movement (EPM).

Documentary Uncovers Tactics Used By SARS To Kill

Illegal tactics used by Nigeria’s security agencies to toture and kill detainees have been uncovered in an investigative documentary by the BBC Africa Eye.

In the 17-minute clip titled “The Torture Virus” and posted on its YouTube channel on Monday, February 10, the documentary showed how victims are illegally tortured through a technique called ‘Tabay’ and sometimes buried alive and killed by men of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police and the Special Anti-Robbery Squard (SARS).

Kanu’s Lawyer Asks Army, Police, Others To Withdraw

Ahead of the burial ceremony of Nnamdi Kanu’s parents in Abia state, his lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on the Army, the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to withdraw their men from the community to allow for a peaceful burial.

Eze Israel Okwu Kanu and Ugoeze Sally Kanu, parents of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kalu would be buried on February 14, 2020. Ejiofor, at a press conference, yesterday, in Abuja, appealed to Abia  Police Commissioner, Mr. Ene Okon, to order the police to stay away from the venue of the ceremony.

Defendants in the multi billion naira Digital Switch Over (DSO) contract trial have told the Abuja division of the Federal High Court that the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) has no prima facie case against them.

Specifically, the Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Ishaq Kawu Modibbo, Pinnacle Communications Ltd, and two others, yesterday told Justice Folashade Ogunbanjo- Giwa that there was nothing in the charge against them to warrant their defence.

Accordingly, they adopted their no-case submission in urging the court to discharge and to acquit them from the charge.

The trial of Omoyele Sowore, Convener, #RevolutionNow, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, will, on Wednesday, resume before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Although the hearing was scheduled to begin today, Tuesday, the absence of the presiding judge stalled the trial.

Nigerians Begin Payment Of ₦6.98 Per USSD Bank Transaction

Electronic Payment Transactions Hit ₦151tn

The total value of transactions through various electronic payment (e-payment) channels in the country rose by 13 per cent to a total of ₦150.773 trillion in 2019, compared with the ₦133. 637 trillion recorded in 2018.

Also, the volume of transactions stood at 2.952 billion in 2019, higher than a total of 2.073 billion recorded in 2018.
The figures were contained in the latest industry e-payment data for full year 2019, from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), obtained by THISDAY yesterday.
