Veteran Musician, Victor Olaiya Is Dead

Veteran musician, Dr Victor Abimbola Olaiya, is dead.

The national merit award winner (OON) clocked 89 years on December 31, 2019.

Bimbo Esho, Managing Director of Evergreen Music Company Ltd, made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday.

Esho said Olaiya passed away at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Wednesday afternoon.

“We pray that the soul of the Doyen of Highlife music finds repose with his creator while wishing the family and entire music community the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss”, he said.

Joseph Yobo Appointed As Super Eagles Assistant Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Joseph Yobo as Super Eagles’ Assistant Coach.

Yobo replaces Imama Amapakabo who was standing in for Salisu Yusuf, TVC reports.

DAIlY POST recalls that the former Enyimba and Kano Pillars coach was found guilty of receiving an amount of money reported to be around $1000.

Yusuf was caught collecting money to influence his team’s selection for the 2017 WAFU Cup in Ghana.

The NFF Ethics Committee sanctioned him with a fine of $5000 and a one-year ban from football-related activities.

Google and the EU battled in court Wednesday as the search engine giant tried to persuade judges that it was unfairly accused of ill-treating rivals of its Shopping service.

The Silicon Valley juggernaut is appealing a 2.4 billion euro ($2.6 billion) fine from 2017 that was the first in a series of major penalties imposed by the European Commission, the EU’s powerful anti-trust regulator.

The court case launches a new phase in the decade-long duel and is a major test of the combative tactics taken by the EU commission against big tech.
