World Bank Report: BMO Blames PDP For Poverty Level

The Buhari Media Organization (BMO) said the recent World Bank report on the poverty level in Nigeria between 2011 and 2016 was a glaring reflection of the level the country sank in the not too distant past, under a succession of clueless, unfocussed and uncaring governments.

According to BMO, the report entitled “Advancing social protection in a dynamic Nigeria,” showed how previous Nigeria governments had little or no concrete plan to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, BMO said that the Bretton Wood institution was emphatic

\Nigerian Presidents Not Prepared For Power – Bishop Kukah

Nigeria Is Not Worth Dying For, Says Kukah

Matthew Kukah, Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese, says Nigeria is on the crossroads and its future hangs “precariously” in a balance.

Kukah said this in Kaduna during his homily at the funeral mass of Michael Nnadi, a student of the Catholic Good Shepherd Seminary, Kaduna, who was abducted and subsequently murdered.

Gunmen had invaded the seminary on January 8, abducting four students, including Nnadi. Three of the students were released after a ransom was paid, but Nnadi did not make it out alive.

Lamenting over the nationwide insecurity, Kukah said: “Our nation is like a ship stranded on the high …

Political Ad Spending Surges; Facebook Dominates Digital

Political ad spending is surging for the US election, with digital campaigns — led by Facebook — accounting for nearly one-fifth of the total, researchers said Wednesday.

A report by eMarketer predicted total campaign media spending jumping 63 percent from four years ago to $6.89 billion, attributing the rise to the “intensity” of the presidential race as well as many congressional contests.

The forecast for the 2019-2020 election cycle covers spending on federal, state and local ads, including political action committee ads for candidates and lobbying activities.

Political ad spending, which is generally highest during presidential campaigns, is likely to …

Brothels Of Daulatdia: Girls To Get ‘Honourable’ Funeral

Often treated as less than human in life, there has been little dignity in death for the sex workers of one of the world’s biggest brothels: their bodies frequently tossed into unmarked graves or dumped in the river.

Until now.

On Thursday, Hamida Begum became the first sex worker from Bangladesh bordello Daulatdia to receive a formal Islamic funeral, breaking a longstanding taboo in Muslim majority Bangladesh where prostitution is legal but regarded by many as immoral.

Scores of women gathered at the graveside, weeping for the 65-year-old’s passing but also because of the symbolic breakthrough her burial represented.
