Ondo Govt Approves Draft Bill For Scrutiny On Amotekun

Ondo State Government on Wednesday approved a draft bill of the Ondo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps, codenamed operation Amotekun, for passage into law.

According to a statement issued by Mr Donald Ojogo, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, the bill would be transmitted to the State House of Assembly for legislative scrutiny after which it would be passed into law.

He explained that the details contained in the bill was presented by the Commissioner for Justice in an exhaustive session of deliberations by the state executive members.

Atiku Reacts To Supreme Court’s Sacking Of APC’s Lyon

Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the Supreme Court’s judgment which nullified the election of the All Progressives Congress’, APC, governor-elect, David Lyon and declare the PDP’s candidate, Senator Douye Diri as the new governor-elect of Bayelsa State.

The Supreme Court had nullified the election of Lyon and his running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo. It declared the PDP candidates the winners.

The ruling came less than 24 hours to the scheduled swearing-in of Lyon of the All Progressives Congress.

EFCC Nabs Okpala, Okpalaeze, Petro Gas For £2.5bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, arraigned Abayomi Kukoyi, Prince Okpala, and Prince Okpalaeze alongside a company, Petro Union & Gas Company Limited, before Justice Mohammad Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

They were arraigned on a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence, attempt to steal and forgery to the tune of £2,556,000,000.00

One of the counts reads:

Video Of TB Joshua Giving Lyon False Hope Emerges

A video showing Prophet TB Joshua of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) giving false hope to the sacked All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Bayelsa, David Lyon, has resurfaced on social media.

T.B Joshua, who described Lyon as part of the brethren in his ministry, told him to go and prepare for his inauguration after which he would come and testify at the Synagogue.

However, In a unanimous judgment, a panel of justices led by Justice Mary Odili held that Lyon’s deputy, Degi-Eremieoyo presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

David Lyon Punished For His friend’s ‘Sin’ – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to the ruling of the Supreme Court which sacked David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as Bayelsa State-Governor-elect.

Omokri said Lyon was punished due to the “sin” of his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo.

The Supreme Court had nullified the election of Lyon and declared Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of the Bayelsa State governorship election.

However, Omokri in a series of tweets urged Nigerians to choose their friends carefully.

The Imo State House of Assembly has banned any form of protest in the state.

The lawmakers said protests have become dangerous events and are exposing people of the state to danger.

The lawmakers also issued a strong warning to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, asking the opposition party to stop crying wolf over the ruling of the Supreme Court that sacked Emeka Ihedioha as the governor.

They further passed a vote of confidence in Uzodinma and the apex court.

The Executive Secretary, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Prof. Mohammed Sambo, says the scheme has provided support to 17 state governments through the Basic Heath Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), to enroll the vulnerable in the society.

School Feeding: 9 Cooks Disappear With Funds

Chikun Local Government Education Authority in Kaduna State says it has uncovered nine cooks who disappeared after collecting ₦692,000 to feed pupils in area in the ongoing National Homegrown School Feeding Programme.

The Education Secretary, Dr Ibahim Danmaraya, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Thursday that the names of the cooks had been forwarded to appropriate authorities for immediate action.

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has apologised for threatening to kill children of Abia State Police commissioner.

Mr Kanu while tendering his apology withdrew the threat and expressed sadness over the development.

The fugitive had earlier threatened to kill children of heads of security agencies in retaliation should any member of the proscribed group be killed during his parents burial on Friday.
