Escaped Female Kidnapper Rearrested In Kano

The Department of the State Security and the Kano Correctional Center has rearrested Mercy Paul who escaped after been arrested for alleged kidnapping of several Kano Children and sold them in Anambra State.

Mercy Paul was arrested along others for allegedly kidnapping several Kano children and selling them in Anambra State sometimes last year 2019.

However, on 31th January 2020, Mercy Paul was said to have escaped from hospital where she was taken for medication after falling ill at Kano Kurmawa Correctional Centre where she is waiting trail.

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has opined that corruption was responsible for the deadly Coronavirus ravaging China.

Magu spoke yesterday during the passing out parade of 281 cadets of the EFCC Detective Inspector Course-5, at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Wednesday reacted to the face-off between the National Security Adviser, NSA, Maj. Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd) and President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

The actor’s ill health was recently a topic of discussion on social media, following a viral video of him begging for alms.

Robbery Scare In Ondo As Banks Chase Out Customers

Residents of Akure, the Ondo State capital were on Wednesday thrown into panic following the rumour of an armed robbery attack at one of the old generation banks in the town.

According to the rumour, some robbers had stormed the Oke-Aro branch of First Bank which turned out to be false.

With the news filtering into town, banks located within the state capital chased out customers within the bank halls as they shut their gates.

Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, Tuesday at the Executive Council chambers, Government House, Awka swore in Hon Justice Onochie Anyachebelu as the substantive Chief Judge of the state.

Anyachebelu had been acting as the Chief Judge of the state since September 4, 2019, until his recent screening and confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Following the outbreak of the deadly virus ”COVID-19”, China’s central bank and its finance ministry announced that its officials wouldn’t attend the coming G20 meeting in Riyadh.

Officials said the country will not send any officials to a G20 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors due to virus outbreak.

Dr Joy Yimebe Nunieh: removed from NDDC interim management committee

Buhari Sacks Joy Nunieh From NDDC Committee

President Muhammadu Buhari has removed Joy Yimebe Nunieh, a lawyer as acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Simultaneously, Buhari approved the appointment of Professor Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei as the new acting managing director, while also enlarging the Interim Management Committee (IMC) from three members to five.

Joy Nunieh was part of the initial three-man management committee appointed by Minister of Niger Delta, Godswill Akpabio, after the Senate had approved the nominees proposed by the president.

Other original members were Ibanga Bassey, acting executive director, finance and administration, and Cairo Ojougboh, acting executive director, projects.

BVN Requirement For New E-Passport Not Acceptable – Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike said Nigeria has failed if her way to check corruption is by requesting Bank Verification Number (BVN) as a condition for obtaining the new e-passport.

Wike, who spoke on Tuesday at the roll-out of the enhanced international e-passport in Port Harcourt, said he was shocked when he was informed that his BVN will be needed to obtain an international passport.
