IGP Adamu Scraps SARS Satellite Offices

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abubakar Adamu, on Tuesday, ordered the closure of all Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) satellite offices.

The directive followed Monday’s protests in Sagamu against SARS.

The people had marched against the killing of Remo Stars Football Club player, Tiamiyu Kazeem aka Kaka, in Ogun State.

Adamu announced the scrap when he accompanied Governor Dapo Abiodun, on a condolence visit to the home of the deceased Vice-Captain of Remo Stars.

The IGP was represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police, in-charge of Research and Planning, Peter Ogunyanwo.

The United State stocks closed sharply lower on Tuesday, continuing a broad market sell-off amid rising risk-averse sentiment.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 879.44 points, or 3.15 percent, to 27,081.36. The S&P 500 was down 97.68 points, or 3.03 percent, to 3,128.21. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 255.67 points, or 2.77 percent, to 8,965.61.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders has widened his lead for the Democratic presidential nomination and overtaken Joe Biden in support among African Americans – a voting bloc that until now has largely favoured the former vice president, according to a Reuters/Ipsos national poll released on Tuesday.

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has condemned “the passing of a bill seeking to give leaders of federal and state legislatures immunity from prosecution for corruption.”

The platform took fans by surprise when the tweet, “Naija how far” surfaced from @Netflixnaija.

Egypt’s former president Hosni Mubarak, who died at the age of 91, will be accorded a military funeral in Cairo today.
