Students Get Warning Over ‘Marlian’ Lifestyle

The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Wednesday warned pupils against living the street lifestyle called ”The Marlian”.

“Marlians” are die hard supporters of music star, Naira Marley, real name Afeez Fashola.

The Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Olatunji Disu spoke at the “Security Day” Celebration organised by some law enforcement agencies in Lagos on Wednesday.

He said Marlian lifestyle is not what a responsible student should copy.

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has condemned the bill seeking immunity from prosecution for federal lawmakers.

HURIWA, a prominent civil rights advocacy group claimed that the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila may be afraid of possible “prosecution over something only both of them know for rushing up a bill to grant themselves immunity from prosecution.”

You Can’t Ban Street Begging – Ulama Blasts Ganduje

The Kano Council of Ullama has given a hard knock on Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over his banning of streets begging in the State, describing it as an action in futility which was hurriedly taken.

The Council said the government was not serious about it because right steps had not been taken on the issue.

Alleged Incompetence: Ekiti Revokes ₦3.2bn Road Project

The Ekiti State Government has revoked the contract for the rehabilitation of Ayede-Ikun -Otun Ekiti road valued at ₦3.2 billion from a construction company handling the project.

The road was awarded to Sharvet Nigeria Limited early January, 2020 and the company has not mobilised to site as contained in the terms of agreement since then.

Speaking with journalists after the state executive council meeting in Ado Ekiti yesterday, the Information Commissioner, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua, said the government took the action owing to gross incompetence exhibited by the construction firm.

2nd Niger Bridge: 18 Days Darkness Hits Anambra

At least 4200 households, residing in Iyiowa and Odekpe areas of Anambra State have been thrown into darkness for over 18 days.

This is as a result of 2nd Niger Bridge construction activities of Julius Berger PLC, along Atani road, Anambra which affected the underground cable powering the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC’s IYIOWA 11KV feeder.

Following the development which occurred on 7th of February, 2020, the IYIOWA 11KV feeder has been out of supply.
