Former Minister of Education, Alhaji Dauda Birma, has said that only God can save Nigeria from splitting.

Bill On B’Haram Satanic, Could Lead To Civil War – HURIWA

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Friday warned against the Rehabilitation, Deradicalisation and Reintegration bill sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe East Senatorial District.

HURIWA, a prominent civil rights advocacy group said the bill which proposes outright pardon of repentant armed terrorists under the guise of deradicalization programme could result in civil war either in the short, medium or long term.

The rights group warned that the bill was unconstitutional and offends all relevant anti-terrorism laws of the federation.

President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday, in Abuja said the issue of partial closure of Nigeria’s land border to goods from neighboring countries will be determined by report of tripartite committee made up of Nigeria, Benin, and Niger Republic.

The Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has condemned the recent killing of seven villagers in Delta State by suspected Fulani herdsmen, vowing to retaliate.

Recall that the corpses of eight farmers, reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen at Uwheru in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, last Friday were recently exhumed by a search team made up of police personnel and representatives of the community for investigation.

Two of the corpses were exhumed on Sunday, while six others were exhumed on Monday afternoon.

Terrorism Funding: Global Body, FATF Blacklists Iran

Iran was on Friday blacklisted after it failed to comply with international anti-terrorism financing norms after more than three years of warnings.

Paris-based Financial Action Taskforce (FATF) asked Iran to either enact terrorist financing conventions or see its reprieve from the blacklist lifted and some counter-measures imposed.

“Given Iran’s failure to enact the Palermo and Terrorist Financing Conventions in line with the FATF Standards, the FATF fully lifts the suspension of counter-measures.

“It also called on its members and urges all jurisdictions to apply effective counter-measures,” FATF’s 39 members said in a statement.

Boko Haram insurgents on Friday evening entered Garkida, a town in Gombi, a local government area north of Adamawa State, and went on rampage.

The insurgents were said to have destroyed lives and properties,l.
