Burial Date For Laetitia Dagan Announced

Late Laetitia Naankang Dagan, the Assistant Director of Administration in Aso Rock Presidential Villa murdered in her home in Abuja on Monday evening will be buried in Jos, Plateau State on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Dagan, who who was murdered at her Lokogoma, Abuja apartment by yet to be identified gunmen was allegedly molested before the assailants set her ablaze on Monday night.

She will be interred at her family burial ground at Kwoor, in Kwalla community of Plateau State.

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, on Thursday, approved the appointment of four principal officers for his administration.

His Acting Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, who disclosed this in a press statement, said the new appointees include: a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Konbowei Benson, who will serve as Secretary to the State Government; Chief Benson Agadaga, as Chief of Staff; Peter Pereotubo Akpe as Deputy Chief of Staff and Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo as Principal Secretary.

U.S. Sues Village For Religious Discrimination

The United States Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against the Village of Walthill in Nebraska for alleged religious discrimination against a church.

In a statement released on Thursday, it stated that Walthill denied Light of the World Gospel Ministries, a nondenominational and multi-ethnic Christian body, a permit to construct a new church building.

The department alleged that in the same period the village approved construction of a library, an education centre and other nonreligious places of gathering in the locality.

Maryam Sanda who was found guilty for the gruesome murder of her husband Bilyaminu Bello has filed an appeal against the death sentence she was handed by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

The convict alleged that the death sentence handed to her by Justice Yusuf Halilu was ”tainted by bias and prejudices”, and that she wasn’t given a fair hearing. She then asked the Court of Appeal to set aside the verdict and acquit her.

Gas Shortage Hits Nigeria’s Power Plants

Electricity Generation Companies (GenCos), comprising gas-fired and hydro stations said that they could not generate 3,347.5 megawatts of electricity on Wednesday due to unavailability of gas.

This information was made known in a daily energy report by the Advisory Power Team, office of the Vice President.

The report also noted that 220 megawatts of electricity was not generated due to unavailability of transmission infrastructure during the period.

Similarly, it said that 400.4 megawatts was not generated due to high frequency resulting from unavailability of distribution infrastructure.
